Secure Data Removal

All computer hard drives received by Eco Computer Systems are completely wiped of data using state of the art software ensuring total data security for you and your customers.  We do not use a third party to carry out secure data removal work.

We carry out a secure software method of data destruction, this way your equipment can be put to good use once all data has been totally removed beyond recovery.  Data removal certificates are issued to ensure total data security and give to peace of mind.

Data Removal Guidelines

British government guidelines (document HMG CESG IS5) covers both Baseline and Enhanced overwriting of data.  At 'Baseline' level the software overwrites every sector of the disk with 1 pass of randomly generated data. At 'Enhanced' level every sector is over-written 3 times: first with a 1, then every sector is over-written again with a 0.  Then every sector is over-written a third time with randomly generated 1s and 0s.

At Eco Computer Systems, we meet the US Department of Defence (DOD 5220.22-M ECE) data removal standard by providing a 7 pass random binary wipe to every storage medium that is not physically destroyed.   This is a highly stringent method of data destruction as it exceeds the 3 pass binary wipe set out by British government guidelines.
